- Description
- Visible light-regulated polymerization has emerged as a powerful synthetic tool for the preparation of functional polymers and materials. In this chapter, we summarize the most recent developments in photoregulated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (photoRAFT) using photocatalystic and catalyst-free approaches. Recent developments in the field of photoRAFT have solved important challenges in polymer chemistry, such as the development of oxygen-tolerant polymerization, polymerization mediated by near-infrared light, and spatial-, temporal-, and sequence-controlled polymerization. Some applications of these techniques are discussed at the end of this chapter, such as the use of PhotoRAFT for sequence-controlled polymer synthesis, high-throughput polymerization for the production of polymer libraries, the preparation of hydrogels and 3D printing, and their bioapplications.
